Tables at a Convention

At a convention, dozens of tables open at once and one small team hands out the seats. Writing to every Game Master one by one does not work there, so an event can gather players in a different way.

Joining a waiting list

When the organizers switch it on, every game at the event gets a "Join waiting list" button.

A waiting list is not a queue. The organizers see who asked first, but they choose who sits where, so joining early helps them and does not promise you a seat. When you get one, OrbRPG tells you the same way as for any other seat, and on the game page your place on the list turns into a seat.

Joining does not bind you either. You can leave a list at any time.

The event form

Some organizers ask a few questions first, such as how to reach you, or what they need to run the day, like your ticket number. You answer once per event, and the same answers go with every table you join there.

The questions come from the organizers, not from OrbRPG, and the form reminds you of it: "Never share passwords, card numbers or ID documents." Your answers are deleted shortly after the event.

All your tables in one place

The event's games list can narrow down to your own tables, with seats and waiting lists apart. A table at the same time as one where you already have a seat is marked, so you see the clash before the organizers do.

Asking the organizers

At a convention, the contact button on a game may not lead to the Game Master. The organizers can answer everything in the guild's chat, or in their own Discord or WhatsApp group. See Booking a Seat for how OrbRPG prepares your message when it sends you there.

Some convention tables also have no Game Chat Room. On those, the game page takes you back to the people who gave you the seat.
