Booking a Seat

You found a game you want to play. What comes next is a conversation, not an application. You write to the Game Master, they answer, and the seat is yours.

In your chats, the game card comes into that conversation with you. Its title sits at the top of the chat as a link back to the listing.

How to book

Press "Book a Place" on the game page. OrbRPG opens the chat where this game takes bookings, most often a direct chat with the Game Master. At a convention, the organizers may answer instead, in the guild's chat or in their own group, and some ask you to join a waiting list. See Tables at a Convention.

Then just ask. Whether beginners are welcome, whether Thursday really holds, what your character should be ready for. The Game Master has a Game Card in front of them, and hands you the seat without leaving the chat.

Changed your mind, or want to ask about another game of theirs? One chat is not tied to one game. Send a link to another one, and the conversation moves to it, with that card now in front of the Game Master. The history remembers each change.

All of that happens in your chats here. A booking can also lead off OrbRPG, to Discord for example, and there you write to the Game Master the way you always do. The seat is still theirs to give, but the game does not come along with the conversation, so say which one you mean.

After you are in

The seat is yours, and in the same moment you are in the Game Chat Room.

The room belongs to this game and nothing else, and everyone in it is your party, plus the Game Master. The Game Master's note stays pinned at the top for all of you. House rules, the link to the virtual table, what to prepare before the first session. It never scrolls away.

So the game has not started yet, and you already know the people, the rules and the place. See Game Chat Rooms.

Some games run without a room. Then "Contact organizer" on the game page takes you back to whoever gave you the seat.

Giving the seat back

Plans change, and that is fine. On the game's page, "Leave" gives the seat back, and the Game Master is notified. And if the evening frees up after all, write to the Game Master again and take it back, as long as it is still there 😉
