Game Chat Rooms

Once you join a game, you get a Game Chat Room: your table's own chat space, separate from the booking conversation.

Privacy

A Game Chat Room works entirely through your OrbRPG account. You never need to hand over a phone number, email, or any other personal details the way other messaging apps often require to connect with someone new.

When is a Game Chat Room created?

A Game Chat Room needs no setup. It is created the first time it is needed:

  • the GM seats the first player
  • the GM opens the room from the game page, before anyone is seated
  • the GM switches the game chat on for a game that already has players, and everyone seated joins at once

After that, each new player is added the moment they get a seat.

A GM can also run a game with no room at all, by switching off "Game chat" in the game form. That works only while the room does not exist yet, because once a room is created, it stays. Without a room, "Contact organizer" on the game page takes you to whoever gave you the seat.

Who's in the room?

  • The Game Master, as the room owner
  • All active players added to the game

If you leave the game, or someone who runs it removes you, you lose access to the room.

Game Info Message

The Game Info Message is a pinned note a GM can attach to chat. If set, it appears in the room's topic bar, visible to everyone at all times.

What to use it for

  • House rules or table expectations
  • Links to character sheets, campaign documents, or virtual tabletop
  • Session schedule or next session reminder
  • What to prepare before the first session

What the GM controls

The room belongs to the GM. The Game Info Message is written and updated in the game form, and players are added or removed in "Manage Players". Every change appears in the room right away, so you always see the current info message.
